PUBLISHED MINUTES

Directors: Arnie Coleman (Exec. Dir.); Raleigh Boreen, Jim Weidenbaum, Tere Pulliam

Invited: Jeff Dahnert (SCCA, Finance); Peter Schneider (BOD Liaison); Velma Boreen (Minutes); Kristen Poole (SCCA Marketing)

Meeting was called to order at 8:03 PM Eastern Time.

A motion was made by Raleigh to approve the August meeting minutes. There was no second to the motion. Decision was made to hold approval to the October meeting. (A motion to approve the August meeting minutes was made by Bob, seconded by Raleigh during the October meeting.  Motion passed. These will be sent to Rachel to post to the SCCA Foundation website)

FINANCIAL REPORT

Jeff provided the committee with a report through the end of August.

  • The SCCA Foundation has been set up on Your Cause, a third-party site providing matching contributions.

  • Jeff has been in conversation with Phyllis at the office regarding BMW payments and which Regions have not yet been paid. BMW payments do not indicate which schools are covered by a payment. SCCA management may need to get involved with resolving this issue.

  • The autorenewal on the CD came due and was taken care of.

  • Tire cleaning at Solo Nationals netted just over $1000.00. That cash was sent back to the SCCA office after the event.

  • Budget for 2024 will need to be worked on over the next couple of months.

  • The Regional Development Grant Program has been used to help with Regions hosting a Street Survival school.

Motion was made by Jim, seconded by Tere to approve the financial report.  Motion passed.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Executive Committee

The Corvette was picked up on 9-19-23 and is now in Florida. The Foundation will work with Costa and Wilma Dunias regarding an article and thank you after the championship season is finished.

The SCCA Foundation display at Solo Nationals and the Runoffs

  • The display at the Danley Building in Lincoln was a success

  • Arnie will be at the Runoffs manning the SCCA Foundation booth.

Tire Rack Street Survival

Melanie reported on the status of the program

  • 12 schools complete, 9 schools scheduled.

  • South Carolina and Puerto Rico are pending.

  • Mississippi Region and Eastern Tennessee Region are back with schools.

  • Solo Nationals netted another six Regions interested in hosting a school.

  • Meeting with Tim Beechuk, Bill Wade and others from the TRSS group.  Schools are severely down and BMW is concerned about not making their projected estimates.

  • BMW working on a new sponsor.

  • Melanie and Philip Royal working on a project for the SCCA Foundation website.

    • Contacting several past TRSS students to get testimonials from them.

Fundraising Committee

August report – donations continue to be very good.

Based on the success that the IMRRC has had with the past two years, SCCA Foundation is considering a car raffle for 2024. This would need to run 9 months. Details at a future meeting.

Still under consideration is an Ultimate Sim Racing Rig.

  • If this is something the Foundation wants to try, the Foundation would not have to pay for it or order it unless the sweepstakes reaches a minimum level of donations.

Next raffle is scheduled to start in the winter of 2024.

Communications Committee

Legacy Society

  • Jim will work with Aimee Thoennes to get the names of registrars to potentially help with legacy stories.

  • May pull in Brian Bielanski and his podcasts.

  • Kristen mentioned Adam Brooks, the videographer that SCCA uses, to see what videos he may have from Solo Nationals

  • Jim will also check with Robert Chrismas re: the Danley Building display

SportsCar is changing focus from print to online. The brand is not going away – just the printed version.

Archives

(See Bob Eddy’s report which is attached to these minutes)

Raleigh has been on three Region Zoom calls with Rachel to encourage Regions to forward their newsletters and race results to the IMARRC.

Consideration to allocate more funds to the IMRRC to get all of the SCCA information organized.

Women on Track

The brunch at Solo Nationals was huge success

  • Approximately 130 women attended. All were given a t-shirt and other giveaways. Very successful

There is a social planned for the Time Trial Nationals in October.

The group will be working on their budget for 2024.

Next full group call will be in October.

Region Development Grants

Need to emphasize the importance of Regions justifying their requests when writing a grant.

3rd quarter grants will be announced by the end of September.

Abby is doing a great job of managing this program for the Foundation.

VETMotorsports and Formula SAE

Both groups are working on 2024 budgets.
