Donations to the Foundation were very good

The sweepstakes raffle for the Ultimate Sim Racing Rig drawing has taken place

  • Jackie Mutschler, Houston Region, was the winner. She is a 35-year SCCA member. She won $4,000 of the $16,000 in donations received. After marketing and Sweepstakes expenses, the Foundation should net around $8,000.

The Women on Track committee raffle for an SCCA gold wheel pendant started during the SCCA Convention.

  • The raffle ends on March 18th.

  • Tere announced that a raffle for an SCCA sterling gold wheel pendant will start up after the raffle for the gold wheel is completed. That raffle will go through Memorial Day.

Jeff will work on a QR code for the newest raffle.

Communications Committee

Donor recognition revision on the Foundation website is in the works with a rolling 12-month display

Jim continues with website and Facebook articles

  • Discussed using AI for storytelling.

    • Introduced George Blikas to give an overview of what can be done with AI and finding information in the SCCA universe. This would be more information and personal than a Google search can offer.

  • Kristen indicated that SCCA is moving in this same direction

Jim is working with Philip Royal re: Sitting in the Garage articles that Raleigh has done for Clutch Chatter, Indy Region’s newsletter.

Archives

No replacement for Jenny Ambrose at the IMRRC

Discussed a request from the IMRRC to obtain shelving from Cornell University.

  • A motion was made by Howard, seconded by Bob, to authorize $2500 to pay for transportation and re-assembly of shelving, donated by Cornell University, to the IMRRC. This shelving is to be used specifically for SCCA archives.  Motion passed

Region Development Grants

Five Regions submitted grant requests for the first quarter of 2024.

  • Those Regions receiving grants were Central Florida, Lake Superior and New England Region

The Grant committee is working to make sure that all grant requests are known by the Region’s RE and board of directors.

A Zoom call may be needed to make sure that all Regions understand this situation

VETMotorsports and Formula SAE

No change with VETMotorsports. Still waiting to hear from Peter Cline on their plans for 2024.

The SCCA trailer will be at Formula SAE in Michigan for both the May and June events.

  • §  The Carroll Smith Award will be award at one of these events and is already in the Foundation budget.
