PUBLISHED MINUTES

Invited: Jeff Dahnert (SCCA, Finance); Kristen Poole (SCCA Marketing); Melanie Murray (TRSS); Peter Schneider (BOD Liaison); Velma Boreen (Minutes)

Meeting was called to order by Jeff at 8:00 PM Eastern Time.

A motion was made by Bob, seconded by Tere to approve the December meeting minutes. Motion passed. The minutes for October will be forwarded to Rachel to post on the SCCA Foundation website.


FINANCIAL REPORT

Jeff Dahnert indicated that year-end financials will be available at the February meeting

  • Through the end of November financials were discussed. 

  • Tire Rack Street Survival funds were discussed

    • There are two schools yet to be reimbursed

  • December donations were very good.

Motion was made by Raleigh, seconded by Bob to accept the financial report. Motion passed.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Tire Rack Street Survival

Melanie reported on the status of the program for 2024

  • Currently there are 5 schools on the schedule

    • 2 in Oregon, Indianapolis, Hawai’i and Mississippi

    • Tim Beechuk will be attending the school in Hawai’i

    • There are 4 other Regions indicating that they plan on hosting a school in 2024

    • The fee to the student will be increasing to $125

    • Distribution of funds will be discussed with BMW/CCA at their meeting the weekend of 1-19/20-24 in South Carolina.  Melanie will check on the people attending that meeting.

    • The use of the Speed Waiver at the schools to be discussed on 1-12-24.

    • Howard Duncan will be the new point of contract as a Foundation board member for TRSS with Melanie

Executive Committee

Virtual National Convention begins on Thursday, 1-18-24

  • Foundation sessions are scheduled and Arnie will be facilitating all but the Women on Track session. Andie Albin will be facilitating that session.

Divisional meeting for 2024 have been scheduled

  • 5 meeting are in person meetings, 1 meeting is virtual

  • Encourage SCCA Foundation members to attend those meetings that are in their area

    • 10-15 minutes presentation could be made at these meetings regarding the Foundation.  Arnie will put that presentation together and will send it out.

    • The Divisional meetings and who from the Foundation will be attending are:

      • Southeast Division – Howard, Tere and Melanie

      • Northeast Division– Jeff

      • Rocky Mountain Division (Virtual) – Arnie

      • Midwest Division – Arnie and Bob

      • Great Lakes Division– Raleigh and Velma

      • Central Division – Raleigh and Velma

Fundraising Committee

Donations to the Foundation continue to come in at a healthy pace

  • Will continue to recognize people making donations on the Foundation website for a year.  Discussion continues on how this will happen in regards to amount donated.

The sweepstakes raffle for the Ultimate Sim Racing Rig have opened

  • An email has been sent to prior sweepstakes participants regarding the 2024 sweepstakes.

  • Will continue with the flash prizes

Work continues on the Fall sweepstakes prize of a car.

  • Jeff has been working with a dealer in his area

The Women on Track committee will be announcing a raffle for an SCCA wire wheel pendant. 

  • This announcement will take place at the end of the Women on Track presentation on 1-26. 

  • Jeff will work on a slide that can be added to the presentation along with a QR code and a URL. 

  • There will also be a picture of the pendant on the slide. 

  • Ticket pricing will one for $20 and 3 for $50. 

  • A soft opening will be on 1-26. 

  • The idea would be to give it away after the final Divisional meeting at CenDiv. 

  • We encourage Foundation members attending the various Divisional meetings to talk up this raffle as well.

Communications Committee

Jim continues with website and Facebook articles

  • Discussed getting testimonials from people who have benefitted from Foundation funds could be part of our communications.

    • Sweepstakes prize winners, Regional grant recipients, members who have participated in the SCCA LMS online

  • Will contact Brian Bielanski regarding his podcasts and add to our digital history.

  • Podcasts are on the SCCA website.

  • Jim has contacted REs to help with legacy stories.

Archives

Still no replacement for Jenny Ambrose at the IMRRC.

The two gift cards were sent to Joe and Rick and were much appreciated

Requests from SCCA members to the IMRRC will continue at no cost to the SCCA member. All the IMRRC asks for is member name and number

Capital campaign for the new IMRRC location has not started yet.

Warehouse in Montour Falls will be improved for storage and working conditions

Roger Bean, the NASCAR sweepstakes winner, will be submitting an article on his experience in Charlotte, NC. The positive news is Roger has now joined SCCA and made a sizeable donation to the Foundation.

Regions/members wanting to make donations of material to the IMRRC was discussed.

  • Bob will include in his National Convention presentation the best way for Regions to sort through what the IMRRC can use.

Museum of American Speed in Lincoln, Nebraska will continue to have the 50th celebration of Solo Nationals on display through September, 2024. The new display will be in place starting October 2024. A Zoom call is scheduled for January to start that process of what the new display will be. Mark from the IMRRC will be making a trip to Lincoln and the Museum of American Speed in 2024.

Women on Track

Kelsey Karanges and Emily Brown are doing a great job as the new chairs for the Women on Track Committee

  • The committee had a Zoom call on 1-9 to go through the National Convention presentation. The final run-through will be on 1-16.

Region Development Grants

Fourth quarter grants were reviewed and NEOhio received the grant request they submitted to host an all-program Competition Clinic at Nelson Ledges in the Spring of 2024.

No requests have been received for first quarter of 2024.

VETMotorsports and Formula SAE

Raleigh met with Peter Cline at PRI regarding their program for 2024

  • They are refocusing their efforts for 2024 and Peter will be in touch as plans become final

Formula SAE has two competitions scheduled for 2024, with both of them taking place in Michigan at Michigan International Speedway

  • May is the internal combustion competition and that competition is already sold out

  • June is the electric competition and registration for that just opened up

  • FSAE has contact Rick Myers re: using the SCCA trailer for timing for both of the events.

  • Carroll Smith Award and trophy are already in the budget.

Old Business

Velma asked about the operations manual for the Foundation and how the committee is progressing on that venture.  Discussion and planning on this to start after the National Convention.
